Abstract: (384 Views)
Background and objective: The present study aimed to elicit the preferences of Social Security Organization (SSO) insured individuals for a disability insurance package in the city of Hamadan.
Materials and methods: Data for this descriptive-analytical study were collected through a questionnaire administered to a sample of 402 SSO insured individuals. Characteristics associated with insurance selection were determined through literature review and interviews with social security experts, and the questionnaire (questions related to background information and questions related to disability insurance preferences) was constructed using a fractional factorial design. Data analysis was performed using a conditional logit regression model.
Results: 42% of study participants were aged 20-40 years, 67.7% were male, and 47.5% had a high school diploma or less. The characteristics of insurer support in case of disability or illness at the beginning of the insurance period (OR: 1.88) and the percentage of treatment costs covered (OR: 1.15) were significantly associated with the probability of choosing an insurance package (p < 0.001). The variables of individual monthly premium paid (OR: 0.99), percentage of disability covered by insurance (OR: 0.09), and replacing the job with a suitable job based on the insured individual's current situation (OR: 0.14) were not significant at the level (p > 0.05).
Conclusion: Offering disability insurance that includes insurer support in case of disability or illness at the beginning of the insurance period and covers a higher percentage of the insured's treatment costs can increase the probability of insured individuals choosing the proposed insurance package.
