Background and Objective: The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is one of the control strategies for occupational accidents. However, many workers do not use these devices for various reasons. Therefore, the present study aimed to model the factors affecting the use of PPE among industrial workers in Kashan using a structural equation model.
Materials and Methods: The present study was cross-sectional and was conducted in 2025. The content validity ratio and content validity index were estimated for face and content validity. The questionnaire was distributed among production line workers in the industry and its fit was performed with confirmatory factor analysis using AMOS version 21 software. Descriptive and analytical statistics were performed using SPSS version 22 software.
Results: 419 production line workers participated in this study. After the initial model fit analysis, a questionnaire with 22 questions was created in 4 areas: access and awareness, efficiency and habit of use, limitations in use, and factors of non-use. The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that the variance coefficient was 60.03 and the Cronbach's alpha of the entire questionnaire was 0.851, and the model fit was well explained.
Conclusion: The present study showed that the designed questionnaire has good usability in the industry and can be used to identify factors that use or do not use PPE. Also, managers and safety and health experts can identify the conditions of their work environment by completing this questionnaire when purchasing equipment.
