Introduction: Performance evaluation and the determination of the effectiveness of a management system, including the HSE management system, is inevitable to achieve continuous improvement in organizations.
Method and Materials: This research was conducted in order to evaluate and rank contractors for HSE performance using (AHP and TOPSIS) in the complex of Imam Khomeini port and Provision of management solutions to improve the HSE status of contractors in this complex.
Results: For this purpose, after identifying 38 contractors, 4 criteria and 22 sub-criteria was determined by using Delphi technique then the criteria and sub criteria were weighed and prioritized by using the AHP method. The management criteria with weight 0.586 obtained the highest score and environmental criteria with weight 0.0085 obtained the lowest score. Also the sub criteria of the HSE professional staff with weight 0.272 obtained the highest and green space with weight 0.006 obtained the Lowest weight. Finally the Assessment and ranking of contractors were done in terms of HSE performance using the TOPSIS technique. The results showed that in terms of HSE performance T.GH.KH company with points 0.9452 ranked the first, A.N.A company with points 0.9367 ranked the second and G.A company with points 0.9264 ranked in the third place. Also, contractors based on performance HSE were ranked in three levels of good (9 contractors), moderate (22 contractors) and weak (7 contractors).
Conclusion: According to the selected criteria, the performance of HSE management in the majority of contracting companies in a favorable situation and a number of companies was at a good and acceptable level. This desirable situation can be attributed to the establishment of HSE management system and the level of contractors' compliance with the HSE requirements.
